When a hair equipment distributor serves hundreds of salons, and part of the workforce uses the system exclusively through tablets in the warehouse, an "average" ERP simply isn't good enough. Working with the e-Sustavi team, Hairground built a system in four months that works exactly the way they do, fast and on the move.
Four months to a unified ERP
Hairground operates in the dynamic industry of hair equipment distribution, a sector where fast order processing, precise stock tracking, and billing accuracy aren't a preference, but a prerequisite for competitiveness. The Odoo implementation covered four key modules: Accounting, Purchase, Sales, and Inventory, for twenty users across all departments of the company: management, accounting, administration, sales, and warehouse. The project began with a detailed analysis of business processes and workshops where requirements were defined and the standard capabilities of Odoo were presented. After importing master data, developing the necessary customizations, and preparing the opening balances, the system was launched into production with active support from the e-Sustavi team. Four months, measurably fast for a project of this scope.

Two screens, two workflows: the challenge that defines the UX
One of the biggest challenges of the project was a specific requirement from Hairground's day-to-day reality: the system isn't used the same way across every department. In the warehouse, employees work with Zebra handheld barcode scanners, while sales reps in the field operate through tablets. Two completely different contexts, two different types of hardware, one and the same Odoo system running behind it. This meant every process had to be optimized for its specific situation. In the warehouse, where speed and accuracy of code scanning are essential, the goods receiving and order preparation workflows had to communicate with the barcode scanners without a single error. For sales reps on tablets, the interface had to be clear and intuitive enough that a client's order could be entered on the spot, without having to go back to the office. Special focus was placed on optimizing the sales and warehouse processes. The goal was to achieve a user experience that's simple, fast, and efficient, without compromising on the accuracy of the data the system tracks behind the scenes. The key decision was to keep the standard Odoo way of working wherever it made sense, and to customize it only where the reality of Hairground's business required it.

Concrete custom development
To meet Hairground's business needs, a series of specific functionalities were developed that standard Odoo doesn't have out of the box. Each one addresses a real business need:
Together, these customizations make the difference between a system that just works and a system that genuinely speeds up the business. The loyalty program now updates automatically with every order. The webshop communicates with the ERP in real time. E-invoices go out and come in without manual steps. In practice, every one of these integrations saves time day after day.
The result: the entire business in one centralized system
On go-live day, Hairground got much more than just new technology. It got a centralized system where all key business data and processes are finally in one place, no more juggling spreadsheets, no double entry, no reconciling between departments. The concrete operational results are visible right away: automatic stock valuation without the need for manual calculations, unified data and processes within a single ERP system, better business visibility, and faster processing of everyday business activities. Stock valuation, webshop order processing, loyalty program point calculation, and e-invoice communication, all of this now runs automatically, and perhaps most importantly, Odoo, as a modular platform, makes it easy to adapt to future business needs. Today, Hairground has a solid, long-term sustainable platform for further growth, which was the central ambition of the project all along.

Conclusion
The Hairground project confirmed something the e-Sustavi team already knew from experience: a successful implementation depends on good two-way communication. Workshops, testing, and active involvement from both sides are key to finding the best solutions. It's precisely through open dialogue that solutions emerge which create new value for both the client and the implementation team. For companies in trade, distribution, or retail, especially those combining fieldwork, a webshop, and traditional sales, Hairground is a concrete example of what that can look like in practice today.
